The Waterbird Habitat Project, founded in 2023 by Dr. Andrea Willey, works with anglers and local communities to remove abandoned fishing gear from the American River and reduce injuries to waterbirds and other wildlife. The project also supports habitat restoration in places where fishing and wildlife overlap, including Turtle Pond at Sailor Bar.
Friends of Sailor Bar is proud to partner with the Waterbird Habitat Project. Learn more at waterbirdhabitat.org
